Tricky memories?

I ate a much-anticipated chicken tikka roll from Noorani’s last night. And never had something let me down so badly! Or maybe my gustatory memory was playing tricks of me.

Memory, especially of food and taste, is tricky business.

There are so many dishes eaten at restaurants, and enjoyed thoroughly, that are not a patch on what they are today.

It’s left me wondering if we can actually replicate tastes we remember, just as perfectly? Or is the taste a combination of the company and the food we ate?

There is always the little thing of bad, deteriorating quality.
